After his talk, the General thanked Tony and asked him a question EVERY service member should hear.

The General asked…

"Tony, why are there Marines who are at their peak in the service…they are motivated and train hard…yet when most get out the service they perform below their abilities?

Some are struggling to make a living. Why is that? Is it because most people give up or is it because they just don't care?

Do they need someone barking orders at them in order for them to perform at peak levels? What is it
?"

Tony's simple answer may surprise you ...

"People will perform at the level of expectation of their peers. If you surround yourself with peers who expect you to perform at a higher level you will perform at that level to achieve the level of expectation of those surrounding you."

What changed for those Marines was the environment. They went from a place where performing at their peak was expected of ALL team members…...

to an environment where low expectations are normal, so folks don't have to work too hard, so they can be "comfortable".
